River at Polumpung Melangkap View Camp Site · 10:57 AM

The place for local picnic and camping, and most rent a tent due to the heat. The water current is pretty strong, probably due to rain the day before. The heat is scorching hot at 11am.

Dinner at Welcome Seafood Restaurant · 7:47 PM

Reasonably priced seafood, and fast service. The place is huge, not sure how many shop units combined.

Aki at AKI-AKI TRAIL (Starting Point) · 8:33 AM

Opt for a sunrise hiking package at 3am for 2 person (RM 230 could be shared among 5 person). The journey is about 3.3km one way, taking less than 2 hours to reach the top. The view is quite magnificent on the observation deck, probably due to the good weather. Sunrise, sea of cloud and a great view of Mount Kinabalu.

Garden at Taman Botani · 12:17 PM

A garden in Kinabalu Park, entrance fee is RM 4. The garden is pretty well maintained, with quite some interesting flowers and plants.

Hiking at Kinabalu Park Headquarters · 1:00 PM

There are quite a few hiking trails in the park, which are short but quite nice. The signs are not quite clear, so it is better to download hiking trail map app. We hike the tupai and burung trail for about 1 hour.

View at Kundasang Point View · 3:28 PM

A popular road side viewpoint of Mount Kinabalu, at Kundasang town centre.

Dinner at Selera Kebun · 3:56 PM

Enjoy local dusun dishes, linopot rice. Also ayam kicap and salai ayam, with local vegetables. The meal is pretty good, linopot rice is good.

Stay at Little Hut · 5:08 PM

A tiny house homestay, which is quite tiny (not good for movement and luggage), but fun and unique as well. There are some house rules like no shoes in door (yet no safe place to keep shoes outdoor), and a list of banned fruit (mangoes, mangosteen, etc.) to be consumed indoor. The place is within a village, with plenty of other homestays, and a good view of Mount Kinabalu.
