Breakfast at Suka Espresso [Ubud] · 7:30 AM

The food is good, coffee is good, and not expensive. Sourdough is tasty and crunchy.

Waterfall at Tukad Cepung Waterfall · 9:30 AM

We depart at 8.30am from Ubud, so the queue is still fairly short. Sadly it is cloudy, and the cave didn't receive much sunlight to make the photo looks good. This is very much an Instagram spot, where you can't enjoy the big waterfall and the water is too shallow to swim in. There is another much smaller waterfall whicj you can enjoy going under it, and also a cave next to the small waterfall which has another nice waterfall in it. So, this is still an enjoyable place to visit. Entrance is IDR 15,000 per person.

Visit at Pura Tirta Empul · 12:00 PM

I am not much of history or culture or spiritual person, so I just went there for the view and photo. The most interesting scene is both local and tourist taking the spiritual bath. If you want to do the spiritual bath thing, engage the volunteer guide and get the special green sarong. There is a big koi pon, with really a lot of koi. A natural spring, where the holy spring water came from. Overall, it is a nice and comfortable place to visit. When you exit, there is quite a long stretch of stalls go to through. Entrance is IDR 50,000 per person Guide on gratis basis Free sarong

Lunch at Pangkon Bali Resto & Agrotourism · 2:26 PM

A big restaurant next to a paddy field, seems like catering for tourists. Food and price is okay.

Visit at Uma Ceking Resto and Swing · 4:00 PM

There are multiple entrance to the very commercial Tegallalang Rice Fields, and our driver send us here when we mentioned we wanted a less crowded entrance. Sadly, this place is still crowded, but bearable. Entrance fee is IDR 50,000 which includes walk in the rice field and photo with bird nest. Add another IDR 150,000 to enjoy the famous bali swing, or IDR 300,000 for the full package which includes everything. The swings are very popular, and there are 3 of them. Rice fields are good photos opportunity too, there are okay. This place is just too commercial and too expensive. But I guess it is still popular and many people enjoy it.

Stay at Malaya Villas Ubud · 5:06 PM

Nice small villa in the middle of the rice field. The house is made of wood, with a nice patio, big bathroom and big bathtub. It comes with a swimming pool as well, but sadly we didn't have a chance to use it. The compound maintain privacy with tall plant fence, so you could not see much of the paddy fields from within. I found the room a bit too small and too dim, with electric sockets not easily accessible. Our room only comes with 30l hot water tank, so we couldn't fill the bathtub with hot water (the owner is upgrading to a 100l one soon). Wifi is only strong in the common area, which is well lit and comfortable. Beautiful surroundings, and the stay is comfortable.

Dinner at Green Kubu Cafe · 7:00 PM

This is restaurant which serve good food, with a nice environment and affordable price. Easily one of the best place we have eaten in Bali. We grilled bebek (IDR 85,000) is very flavourful and crispy. The lontong (IDR 30,000) is very tasty as well. There is a cute and friendly waitresses during our visit. Since it is night time, we couldn't explore much of the huge compound.

Breakfast at Sate Plecing Arjuna · 10:08 AM

The place is popular the spicy flecing sate. We like the spicy one compared to sweet one. We find the soto bakso sapi (pork ball soup with beef) a bit too salty for us. PS: We book a half day taxi to Ubud for IDR 300,000.

Waterfall at Kanto Lampo Waterfall · 11:03 AM

A beautiful multi layer waterfall. Soon you will realised most of the popular waterfall in Bali, there shall be a queue for photographs. So you can't really enjoy the waterfall, but just to take photographs. There are a few local guide to help you with the photographs, and they are very helpful and skillful. I think payment is not required, but tipping shall be appreciated. You can enjoy a dip at the spring pool instead. Entry is IDR 20,000 per person.

Lunch at Warung Babi Guling Pande Egi · 1:23 PM

This place is a favourite among the local, with reasonable price and a nice view by the paddy field. We went at Sunday lunch, so expect a 20 minutes wait. If you want to save money, just order the Bali Guling Biasa, and the special and jumbo just give you more ingredients. Food is nice. The Ais Taro is quite nice, and Ice Coconut (with lime) taste kinda amazing for me. There is a small stall selling fritters for IDR 1000 per piece, and they are freshly fried and tasty.

Stay at Jani's Place Cottage · 4:02 PM

I think this is a nice hotel, with value for money, spacious room, a garden balcony and a pool. At a bit edge of ubud town centre, it is still convenient but not too busy. Friendly and helpful staff, they do offer laundry service with a local laundry.

Dinner at Kedaton · 7:29 PM

Pick some dishes with your rice. The tempeh kacang is very good, and you could try the shalot cracker too.

Dessert at Kakiang Bakery · 7:59 PM

Coffee is alright, the milk crepe is big in size but taste wise is average.

Hiking at Mount Agung · 10:22 PM

Depart around 9.00pm from our hotel in Ubud, about 1h30 to reach Besakih Temple. Hike start from 11pm, and sunrise is about 6.30am. There is along rest near the top, where they setup campfire to keep warm. After the long break, last leg of the journey starts at 5.30am to go for the peak and crater. We are lucky that there is no rain, and the wind is strong. The sea of cloud is absolutely amazing, and the clear sky, with the wonderful ridge walk towards the crater. This is one of the best view I have seen after more than a dozen hike. It takes 4 to 6 hours to go up, and the same amount of time to come down. The peak is abiut 3050 metres, and I was mildly out of breathe near the top. Coming down is really painful as well. We reach Besakih Temple around 12.30pm, and be back toUbud round 2pm.
