Lunch at Restoran Big Family 大家美食中心 · 12:33 PM

This coffee shop has expanded to 4 shops. The Ipoh Hor Fun is pretty good, coffee is nice, Rojak okay, Curry Mee acceptable.

Dinner at Pentos & Basil · 6:58 PM

This Italian restaurant is a real gem: reasonable price and delicious food. Fresh sea prawns and tasty Ciabata. Pesto Genovese and Squid Ink Risotto taste pretty good too. Lychee Lemon drink is nice, and Pana Cotta is okay.

Breakfast at Gaing Mas Jimbaran Villas by Gaing Mas Group · 8:00 AM

Ordered breakfast (local sweets) from GoGood, but ordered too much and taste wise is below average.

Lunch at Mitos Kopi Jimbaran · 12:15 PM

An affordable little cafe. Strangely the Americano (sourish and fruity) is better than the Cappuccino. A coffee + croissant or sandwich is IDR 70K. The croissant and sandwich are okay, but the loaded fries is just average.

Lunch at Sate tipat jik gaul (Sate Babi & Sate Ayam) · 2:40 PM

Try sate babi for one last time. We were worried when she use a gas stove rather than the usual charcoal or coconut husk method (probably because it is just a roadside stall with less customers at this time). The marination is pretty good, slightly spicy. Texture of the meat is average though, maybe not enough tender or fatty part. Given the price, I would say it is a good deal. Plus the lady boss is talkative and friendly. IDR 15K per portion.

Tea at Ngurah Rai International Airport · 4:26 PM

Wife cannot resist the many shops selling cakes/breads and coffee, so we ate again. Third lunch for the day. Most shops sell almost the same thing. Taste wise it is alright. Bye bye Bali, see you next time. Suksma.

Breakfast at Wisnu Lumbung Uluwatu · 8:00 AM

Our stay doesn't include a breakfast, so we order gofood from our favourite cafe in Bali: Suka Expresso. Having breakfast at balcony is a great idea. Though it is expensive (about IDR 450K for two breakfast, two coffees and a cake), but the food quality is really good.

Shopping at KRISNA Oleh-Oleh Khas Bali - Samasta Jimbaran · 11:30 AM

Stop by Krisna for some Oleh-Oleh: pie susu, peanuts, crackers and coffee.

Lunch at Warung Mami Ikan Bakar · 1:40 PM

The place is full pass 1pm. There there are only 3 tables in queue, it takes 40 minutes for the table to turn. Both cooking and eating is slow. Recommended to arrive before 1pm, or come around 1.40pm, or later. There is no crowd after 2.30pm on a weekday. The fish is nice and firm, the clams has great sauce and the prawns are so so (soft prawn and the marinating didn't get through to the meat). The meal cost IDR 260K - 1 portion fish - 1 portion clam - 2 portion prawns - 2 rice - 1 fruit tea

Massage at Bliss Massage · 3:27 PM

IDR 140K for 1h of full body massage. Not on the cheap side, but still nice and satisfying. The place not brightly lit or new, but still clean.

Stay at Gaing Mas Jimbaran Villas by Gaing Mas Group · 4:39 PM

An affordable villa with a private pool. Not new or one of those trendy ones, but still nice and enjoyable. Service are so so. A nice pool with a nice sunbed. And semi-outdoor living area and kitchen (can't cook). Room is comfy, comes with a really big bathtub. Our second best accommodation.

Dinner at Kayumanis Resto Jimbaran · 7:11 PM

We tasted enough seafood in Jimbaran, so we went to a fancy place for Bebek. The bebek set (IDR 300K) can be shared by two person. The overall meal is nice, and comes with a small and nice dessert. We are impressed by the dessert that we ordered another one, which is nice too. Our drink the Cocpnut Shadow taste like a nice smoothie without coconut flavour. Nice ambience, nice music, nice service and nice food. It is not something amazing, but just nice. We enjoyed our meal here.

📅 Sep 15, 2022

Breakfast at Ayu Hill Bungalows · 8:00 AM

The breakfast is late by 45 minutes, and it is probably the worst breakfast (the banana pancake is thick in flour with no banana taste, toast and omelette is acceptable) we tasted in Bali so far. Ayu Hills has a small garden, but not much of a view. The hotel charge IDR 200K for a 15 minutes ride to the port. I call our driver from yesterday, and he charge IDR 150K. Transport is expensive on the island, unless you are on a scooter.

Boat Ride at Toya Pakeh Harbour · 9:30 AM

There is some traffic issues when entering the port area, so allocate 15 minutes to traffic jam. Today the wave is stronger, so I feels dizzy along the way to Sanur. The El Rey boat depart on time at 10am. PS: we contacted a driver we met on the street for a day trip from Sanur to Uluwatu for IDR 450K.

Lunch at Ikan Bakar Bli’Putu · 12:30 PM

The seafood here is really affordable, only IDR 150K for 2 persons. Cooking is slow, about 40 minutes even if there isn't much customers. A plate of additional calamari cost IDR 75K. Taste wise is okay.

Visit at Wisnu Lumbung Uluwatu · 1:00 PM

The hotel looks nice and comfy, spacious enough with a balcony seating. They offer a small coconut as welcome drink. There is also a small pool with a floating swan. You need to hail a gocar to the town center or the beach, but it's not too far away.

Visit at Suluban Beach · 2:00 PM

You go through many confusing stairs among the many restaurants to reach a tiny beach, among 2 cliffs with strong waves striking in. The view is quite amazing, and it is fun. Definitely a special beach. I forgot to take photos with my phone, but I will post a video soon. Many people have a drink at the restaurants and gaze at the waves.

Visit at Padang Padang Beach · 4:00 PM

The specialty of this beach is the long stretch of shallow water, which is great if you just want a dip in the water. The waves are far away in the open sea, where you can see tiny people surfing. Beware of monkeys. You can continue exploring this long stretch of beyond the rocks, with more amazing rock formation along the beach. Entrance fee is IDR 15K per person. It has free toilets and places to wash.

Dinner at The Place With No Name · 6:30 PM

A restaurant by the main road with a good vibe, with quite a few Haiwaian dishes. It is pretty noisy if you sit outside due to the traffic, but they have live music later in the night. The cucumber soda is very refreshing. Butter garlic shrimp is a letdown, because there is not enough sauce for the rice, and tge prawn is kinda soft (maybe prawns in Bali are so). California Burito is pretty good, especially the green sauce which comes with it.

Dessert at Usha cafe&Bakery Uluwatu · 7:41 PM

We came here for coffee and cake. The price is affordable, but taste wise is average.

📅 Sep 14, 2022

Fast Boat at Sanur Beach Harbour · 7:30 AM

I packed breakfast from hotel, took a gocar and reach the harbour to catch the 7.30am boat to Nusa Penida. At the harbour, you stop a few minutes away from the entrance to avoid paying a entrance fee of IDR 5000 for car. Someone from one of the many boat companies will try to intercept you and guide you to their counter. It is fine if you found the price and time of departure acceptable. As of today, the price is IDR 150K per person one way. The schedule time is 7.30am, but the boat got delayed until 8.00am. There might be a price hike soon due to the recent increase in petrol prices. There are 2 dozens boat company operating various boat to the 3 nearby islands: Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan. If you want peace of mind, you can book online tickets via Klook. The beach port is extremely crowded in the morning, with some seller selling snacks. I think the trip to the island only takes 30 minutes, but the boarding is quite slow. The staffs will help you with heavy luggages, and you remove your shoes and dandals when boarding (as there is bo actual harbour, but a beach). A real harbour is in construction. You will land on Toya Pakeh Harbour (Semabu Hills fadt boat). There are plenty of Taxis service, where i think the normal price is IDR 700K per day (we negotiated to IDR 650K, he won't budge for IDR 600K which is Klook's price). If you just need a ride to your hotel, it is much pricier here. I think the prices on Klook is quite good, so it might be worth it to book there. Also, you can complete the island in a single day, as they separate the trip into east or west. So stay a night if you want to cover all the main attractions. Our driver brought us to El Rey counter for a ticket back to Sanur for tomorrow, and it cost IDR 200K per person. I am not quite sure why there is an additional fee of IDR 50K, so maybe just buy a return ticket in Sanur will be cheaper, or book online via Klook. I think most tickets are open tickets for the day, so you can change the time if you are late.

Visit at Angel Billabong · 10:00 AM

A small green pool. Quite challenging to get into the pool, and you might end up obstructing photos for many others if you do so.

Visit at Broken Beach · 11:00 AM

Broken beach is an arch rock formation, where you look at from a cliff. You can't reach the beach on foot, maybe by boat, but no one is on the beach. You can also see Manta Bay, and spot some mantas from a cliff. Many go on a snorkeling trip with Mantas, but the waves are really strong.

Lunch at BELLA QUEEN resto& bar · 12:21 PM

A common stop for tourists by driver. Food is okay, just portion small and slightly more expensive.

Visit at Kelingking Beach Nusa Penida · 1:48 PM

There are many people at the stairs near to top taking photos, you can instead travel further up to take better pictures with less crowd (there are some monkeys there). Do walk down the cliff by stairs, it takes about 20 minutes. It is not very hard (unless you hardly exercise), slightly challenging due to the tight space, and plenty of traffic jam. The beach down there is absolutely gorgeous, clean and white with some really big waves. Not recommended to swim in it, but you can enjoy the water and the waves. There is also a seller selling cold drinks and some snacks. I would recommend at least 3 hours at Kelingking.

Visit at Crystal Bay Nusa Penida · 4:57 PM

Like most beach in Bali, plenty of sunbeds and food stalls. Pandan Beach is 10 minutes hike from here, but we didn't go there. I enjoy a dip in a river flowing towards the sea, and enjoy BBQ corn for IDR 20K. If the weather is good, wait until sunset before returning to hotel.

Stay at Ayu Hill Bungalows · 7:00 PM

It is a simple but comfortable hotel. It does not serves dinner, but the owner gives you a menu where you can order delivery from a nearby restaurant via WhatsApp. The food from the Warung is quite tasty with big portion (good price), but the delivery was late by 45 minutes. I would recommend staying near a beach, or near the main road loop. At least the transport fee is cheaper, or you can enjoy the beach on the early morning (or watch sunrise if you are on the east side).

Morning at Arya Utama Garden Villa · 7:00 AM

Breakfast delivered to the room. Wake up early for a relaxing morning with a great view. PS: we book a ride with our hotel from Munduk to Sanur (IDR 550K), with a stop by at Tamblingan Lake. Transport gets more expensive in more remote places.

Visit at Air Terjun Munduk · 8:30 AM

This waterfall is officially known as Tanah Barak, or Red Coral. It is a short hike down from our hotel. There are a few more waterfall nearby, but we didn't have the time to explore. The waterfall is very strong, and it is very cold as the sunshine hardly reach the valley. The shops here sell local spices. Entrance fee is IDR 20K per person.

Visit at Tamblingan Lake · 11:30 AM

A quiet and tranquil lake, with a temple. This is a famous camping spot for locals, and you can do a boat ride with the local too. The view is simple and nice, thanks to the good weather.

Stop at Twin Lake View · 12:31 PM

A road side stop with photo opportunities, as you can see two lakes: Tamblingan Lake and Buyan Lake.

Lunch at Babi Guling Depot Betty · 1:23 PM

Tasty meal at IDR 25K per person. The place is a popular stop over by locals as it is on a major road. There babi guling here offers many types of ingredients, including internal organs. Tasted Temulawak and Es Jeruk the first time. Es Jeruk is nice, Temulawak is too sweet.

Stay at Sanur House · 3:30 PM

Nice boutique hotel with friendly staff. The room is small and simple, but it does have a nice pool area. Free water dispenser provided as well.
+2

Relax at Pantai Karang · 5:20 PM

Our hotel (Sanur House) is quite near to the beach. You can walk along the beach on a walking pathway (or rent a bicycle) to Sanur Beach in 30 minutes. There are many restaurants along the beach. Sanur is a place with more locals and older tourists, a different vibe from Seminyak which is more trendy. The sand of Seminyak beach is cleaner and finer.

Dinner at Warung Mak Beng · 6:30 PM

A very famous restaurant in Sanur, serving fried fish and fish head soup for IDR 55K per person. After many dishes of pork, it is nice to eat some dishes. The fried fish is fresh and nice. The soup is full of spices, which could be spicy, and I found it very rewarding.

Dessert at Canvas Cafe · 9:00 PM

Wife wanted coffee and dessert, now that we are back to the city. This looks promising around Sanur Beach area. Coffee is Okay, and Jerry famous cheese cake is interesting. PS: Car entering Sanur Beach area need to pay IDR 5000 entrance fee. If you hail a car from here, it will incur additional fee, or you can walk a few minutes down the road to the entrance.

Breakfast at Gumi Ayu EcoHotel · 8:00 AM

Delicious breakfast with a great view.

Waterfall at Munduk Tutub · 12:19 PM

Walking down the valley from Ayu Gumi Eco lodge, there is a yoga platform and a small stream. If you are adventurous enough to follow the stream for 5 minutes, you shall be rewarded with Tutub Waterfall. The water is really cold, as the sunshine hardly penetrate the valley. There is a water tube to float on the tiny pool.

Lunch at Warung Made's Munduk · 2:30 PM

We took the free transport from Arya Utama (our hotel) to this nearby restaurant (walking is hard due to the terrain and traffic). The food is delicious. We ordered Lawar Babi and Pepes Ikan. The dessert Dadar Guling is warm and tasty too.

Stay at Arya Utama Garden Villa · 3:00 PM

This is the best hotel we stayed so far, also the most expensive. We stay in a special room, the waterfall cottage. It has a huge balcony with a outdoor sofas and sunbed. The room offer a 270 degrees all glass view of the surrounding, where you can see the valley, far away mountain and even the sea. The comes with a kitchen as well, a living room and a bathtub. You can order food from their restaurant and they will deliver it to your room. The comfort and the view of this room is really great.

Breakfast at Saridev'i Ecolodge · 8:00 AM

Enjoying a local breakfast with a nice view.

Walk at Saridev'i Ecolodge · 9:00 AM

Our hotel is not near the Jatiluwih center, but it is still surrounded by a lot of terrace rice field.

Visit at Pemandian Air Panas/Natural hot Spring Piling Kawan · 11:39 AM

Basic and clean open hair hotspring, only seen two couples here during our visit. IDR 25K per person (include a small bottle of water)

Visit at Jatiluwih Rice Terrace · 12:30 PM

This is a major attraction, a really huge area of terrace rice field with multiple marked trails between 30 minutes and 2 hours. There are many small stalls between the rice field, and probably a few restaurants and cafes as well. The weather is pretty glommy when we arrived. This is probably the largest terrace rice field in Bali. Entrance is IDR 40K per person and IDR 5K for car parking.

Lunch at Depot Muslim Latansa · 2:56 PM

We wanted to try some mutton sate. The sate comes with peanut sauce, and taste wise is okay. Sadly it doesn't have a good mutton flavour. IDR 60K for 2 person

Visit at Ulun Danu Beratan Temple · 3:30 PM

The is a huge place by the lake. There are two pagoda like structure on the lake, and also a double dragon. And also a few huge Balinese gates. There is a huge park, with various statue of animals. They expand the place with a few more man-made tourist attractions, like more photographs station, more statues, a mini garden, a cute little zoo and a restaurant. There are also speed boat tour or swan boat paddling in the lake. Along the road outside the temple sells lots of strawberries and fried snacks (keripik). Strawberry seels fir IDR 25K for 500g, while snack goes for IDR 10K for 5 packets. Entrance fee is IDR 50K

Stay at Gumi Ayu EcoHotel · 5:00 PM

This is a modern eco lodge, so it has a modern kitchen with fancy western options. The room we booked is quite small, where the dining and bathroom is on the ground floor, and our room is on the first floor. There is no AC or fan as it is pretty cold at night. They provided a free water dispenser. The hot water here is quite limited, only 30L, so you need to bath quickly. Dinner is slightly expensive, and taste wise is good. The staffs are well trained in hospitality. The free peanuts are tasty (feels like peanuts in Bali generally taste good).

Dinner at Organic Farm and wooden bungalow in rice field · 7:00 PM

Soto Ayam and Nasi Goreng for dinner. The food is tasty.

Visit at Nungnung Waterfall · 11:30 AM

This is our favourite waterfall in bali so far. There is no queue for photographs, as there are many spots and a really big area. The water is shallow, so you can get quite near to the huge waterfall. You can't swin, but a dip or enjoy a shower by the waterfall is very enjoyable. IDR 20K per person plus IDR 5K car parking. PS: we book a transport from Sidemen to Jatiluwih, with a stop by Nung Nung for IDR 500K.

Swing at Bali Jhon Swing And Coffee Luwak Pageh Gelang · 1:41 PM

A bali swing near the Nung Nung Waterfall, and there are no other customers besides us (as compared to the crowded Tegallalang bali swing). The swing is not super tall, but scary enough swung out to the top. I like the mountain and forest view, too bad the weather is cloudy. Go get to swing 2 times, one time facing outwards, and another time facing inwards. 150K per person if two person.

Lunch at Warung Sate Pan Jaya · 2:15 PM

This might be our favourite restaurant in Bali. Delicious sate babi with juicy meat. Each of us have 2 portion of sate. They also sell pepes, something like wrapped mince meat. The food is also one of the cheapest we have so far. IDR 92K - 3 pepes - 2 nasi - 4 plate of satay (9 stick per plate) - 1 coke

Stay at Saridev'i Ecolodge · 4:00 PM

One of our favourite accommodation so far. Nice design, clean, comfortable and spacious, facing the paddy field, wthin a garden. This place is just nice and comfortable. It feels good to stay here. Do order early for dinner, as the host will cook some delicious home cook meal, something out of the ordinary we tasted so far in Bali. The lady host is super friendly and talkative.

Walk at Tangkup · 10:00 AM

Walking around the paddy field near our hotel in Tangkup, Sidemen. Beautiful countryside scenery.

Hike at Natya River Sidemen · 12:37 PM

Start the hike from Natya River Sidemen, from paddy field to a river crossing via bamboo bridge. Passing through a farm, then into another river crossing without a bridge, to Bali Countryside Sidemen (a resort), passing through some canal and finally onto a main road. From here to Sidemen require 2h by foot, and we couldn't hail any Gojek and Grab. Finally a local help us to hail a passing by lorry to go to Sidemen town. The driver ask where would like to stop, and we said anywhere in town to have lunch. Then he drove us out of town, to a restaurant by the roadside which he claimed the food is good. Now we are out of the town again. An interesting journey.

Lunch - Warung Makan Iseh at Warung Organic · 2:12 PM

Our free ride drop us at the restaurant, quite a distance from Sidemen town. This is definitely not a warung, but probably a favourite place for driver to bring there customers for lunch. You have a view of a big farm, but we can't see the mountains as it was cloudy. Food is nice, slightly expensive. Luckily we managed to hail a Gojek back to our hotel.
